Curriculum Information PowerPoint - Autumn 2021

As promised in the St Lawrence Post, we are now pleased to send you a link to our St Lawrence YouTube channel where you can access the Curriculum Information Presentation for your child's year group.

The Curriculum Information presentation will be followed by a 'Get to Know You' live video session with your child's class teacher during the week beginning 18th October. Apologies that this date is slightly later than originally stated, but we need the extra time to resolve some minor technical difficulties. This is your opportunity to have an informal chat with the teacher in a group video link, as well as being able to ask questions arising from the Curriculum Information Presentation.  We ask that any questions are emailed to the class teacher direct, in advance of the 'Get to Know You' session: lauren.parcell@stlawrence.thpt.org.uk

Apple Class Update

Dear Apple class parents,

Apple class have had a great couple of weeks - enjoying our topic of Splendid skies and practicing for our nativity. Apple class thoroughly enjoyed the trip to Wisley and wrote some amazing sentences about the trip on the following day.

Maths: In maths we have been moved onto numbers to 20 and we have been adding and subtracting numbers using different methods, such as a number line or using our knowledge of our number bonds to 10. Next week, we are moving onto 2D and 3D shapes.

English: In English Apple class have been writing up the story of 'One rainy day'. Focusing on capital letters, full stops and finger spaces. Next week, we will be making Christmas cards and writing a set of instructions on the steps we took on how to make the Christmas card.

Topic: As our topic is Splendid skies, we have been learning about weather, more specifically- wind and the Beaufort scale which they all found very interesting. We believe the wind was around a 1 or a 2 on the Beaufort scale on a trip to Wisley.

Your child now has a tricky word sheet and phonic phase 5 sheet in their yellow reading record book. Please use this as often as you can to ensure your child is practising these important skills.

We are also trying hard to make sure our number bonds to 10 ( 6 + ? = 10) are secure so please practice at home.

Thank you to all Apple class parents and carers again for your ongoing support with your child’s learning – it really is making a difference.
